This 40-year old rock and roll odyssey stars The Purple One himself, Prince, as “The Kid,” a brooding musician with a talent as electric as his guitar. By day, he escapes his abusive home life by shredding face-melting solos with his band, The Revolution. By night, he battles for the spotlight at the legendary First Avenue club, all while navigating a love triangle that’s more tangled than his microphone cord. Enter Apollonia (Apollonia Kotero), a sassy singer who catches The Kid’s eye, but watch out for Morris Day and The Time – they’re here to steal not only the gig, but maybe Apollonia’s heart too. Expect iconic concert sequences that will have you air guitaring in your seat, heart-wrenching family drama, and enough purple everything to make Barney jealous. Just remember, “When doves cry,” it ain’t always because it’s raining. Sometimes, it’s because you just witnessed Prince unleash a musical masterpiece.
