This stylish giallo thriller by Dario Argento throws American writer Sam Dalmas (Tony Musante) into a murder mystery that’s more feathers and fear than fountain pens and writer’s block. Vacationing in Rome with his glamorous girlfriend (Suzy Kendall), Sam stumbles upon a brutal attack in an art gallery. The culprit? A maniac in a black leather ensemble that would make Morpheus jealous. Fueled by morbid curiosity (and maybe a touch of hero complex), Sam decides to play detective, much to the dismay of the authorities (and his girlfriend’s sanity). Expect a kaleidoscope of vibrant visuals, a killer soundtrack by Ennio Morricone, and enough murder weapons to stock a serial killer’s garage sale. Just don’t blame us if you start checking under the bed for guys in black gloves after this one. Remember, sometimes all it takes is witnessing a “winged avenger of death” to turn your Roman holiday into a giallo nightmare.
